How to Use This Vlog for Leaving Cert French Aural Practice

The Leaving Cert French aural (listening comprehension) exam asks you to understand spoken French on everyday topics — travel, weather, food, daily life. Jen's vlog is perfect practice because it's real, natural spoken French covering loads of those exact themes. Here's how to get the most out of it:

  1. First listen — gist only. Watch the full video without pausing. Just get the general idea: where did they go? What did they do? Don't stress about every word.
  2. Second listen — detail. Now read the 9 questions below first, then re-watch. Pause and rewind as needed — this isn't cheating, it's smart study!
  3. Answer the questions. Write out your answers in English (unless told otherwise — in the LC exam, answers are usually in English).
  4. Check & review. Re-watch the relevant sections for any you missed. Note down any new vocabulary — especially the food, weather, and monument words.

💡 Leaving Cert tip: In the real aural exam you get three listens and a little reading time before each section. Practise that same structure at home — read the questions first, listen once, listen again, then write. It builds the habit before exam day.
